This morning, one of the delegates from Jordan asked me what do I think- is the power to

make a change and achieve peace in our region belongs to the politician or to the people?
My initiate answer was obviously, the politicians- our governments, our diplomatic
agreements. But then I gave it a second though, and realized just how wrong I was.

This morning, one of the delegates from Jordan asked me what do I think- is the power tomake a change and achieve peace in our region belongs to the politician or to the people? My initiate answer was obviously, the politicians- our governments, our diplomaticagreements. But then I gave it a second though, and realized just how wrong I was.

In democratic countries, as well as in those who aspire to be such, elections are being held every few years. These elections give the people the chance to give their power to those they believe in. that's an idea we're all very familiar with.

But what happens when the elections are not 100% democratic? For example if there is only one candidate?

And what happens when the elected candidate changes his ways? Does things the people, even those who elected him, don’t agree with?

And what happens in countries that do not have democratic elections? The people were never given the power to choose in the first place, so maybe there the power is in the hands of the authorities?

The way I see it, the power will always be in the hands of the people. For the good and for the bad.

And if you think about it that's the reason why we are all here. We are here to prove that it doesn't matter what is our title or who are we associated with. What matters what we aspire to do and who we aspire to be. Sure, it helps to have the support of decision makers, but let me tell you a little secret- they cannot do it without us!

Going back to the question I was asked- who has the power to achieve peace in the Middle East, I think that for the first time I found the real answer. So, you think you know the answer?

My answer is that it is us! We are the only ones who are capable of bringing about peace. The only ones who have the chance to make a change!

And why is that? Because we are the ones who still have the opportunity to see beyond diplomatic agreements and politics. We are the ones, who still remember what our dreams look like. And now we are given the platform to voice out these exact dreams, and are given the opportunity to make them a reality.

And it goes way beyond the peace in the Middle East. It relates to any issue or problem that is a portion of your life back home, and our lives as a global community.

Let's use the power and the amazing opportunities we were given in this conference and make the best out of it.

This is the moment when we, THE PEOPLE, can bring about change.

Let's not let it slip away in-between our fingers…
